Dive deeper into our understanding of vision, light and optics from the Muslim Golden Age to modern day. In collaboration with the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens’ exhibition, Ink, Silk and Gold: Islamic Treasures from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, join guest speaker, Professor Charles Falco, who will explore inventor, philosopher and thinker, Ibn al-Haytham and his contribution to modern science and technology.
Charles Falco is a Professor of Optical Sciences at the University of Arizona. In addition to his studies of optometry, Professor Falco has completed research and performed lectures about Ibn al-Haytham of his influence on the post-medieval world and of modern science. Professor Falco will combine the disciplines of science and history to discuss the contributions of Muslim cultures to the modern world.
