On The Pulse – Sharing Our Signs

September 29, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

FREE

In honor of Deaf Awareness Week, MOSH is partnering with Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) to host a panel discussion which will bring to light the experiences of the deaf community. Panelists include professors at FSCJ who are either deaf or have deaf parents. They will offer their perspective on everyday life and discuss successes and challenges that deaf people face in Jacksonville. Following the discussion is a Q & A session to help people understand being deaf is not a disability, it is a culture and has limitations, but everyone has to learn to adapt to it.

Please RSVP for this event by emailing Elizabeth Valnoha, Public Programs Coordinator at evalnoha@themosh.org.

On the Pulse is a series of in-depth talks that take a look at some of Jacksonville’s hardest hitting health issues while offering new views that actively challenge social stereotypes and promote acceptance. Join MOSH as we tackle topics and give voice to silent issues within the city.
