Orange Legacy: Florida’s Exotic Fruit

February 21, 2019 @ 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm

Join GastroJax and MOSH for an in-depth look at the early orange growing days of Northeast Florida. Learn about one of the first Orange Barons, infamous shipmaster and smuggler Jesse Fish. You’ll have a chance to try a featured cocktail recipe inspired by a popular drink from the late 18th Century. Erin Thursby, author of the soon to be released book, “Florida’s Oranges: A Colorful History”, will present a historical reflection of our state’s most popular fruit.

Along with other light hors d’oeuvres, enjoy the Sunshine State Orange Crunch Cake from Chef Dennis Chan of Blue Bamboo and grand prize winner of the Pillsbury Doughboy and General Mills’ Neighborhood to Nation Recipe Contest. Guests will enjoy two complimentary drinks along with a tour of the Museum of Science & History, Jacksonville’s current traveling exhibition, Backyard Adventures!

The doors will open at 6:30 pm. Guests are invited to mingle and grab light refreshments. The program will begin at 7pm.

The cost is $25 per person.
