The Big Cover Up: Shining A Light On Solar Eclipses

Eclipse enthusiasts! The 2017 Great American Eclipse is coming and the Bryan-Gooding Planetarium wants to help you uncover everything you need to know about this historical event!

Whether you will be finding your way into the path of totality or staying right here in Jacksonville, join us on Friday, August 18 at 6 p.m. as we take a look at noteworthy past eclipses, learn about the amazing science involved and get all the info you need to know about the August 21 Great American Eclipse!

Special Guests:

• United States Postal Service — The USPS will be the unveiling of its latest Forever Stamp, The Total Eclipse of the Sun, for Northeast Florida. This unique stamp is the first U.S. stamp to use thermochromic ink, which reacts to the heat of your touch.

• Mike Buresh, Chief Meteorologist at Action News Jax — Learn about safety procedures to take when viewing solar eclipses.

• Mr. Bharath Muthyala, Solar System Ambassador, NASA

• Sam Turley, Solar System Ambassador, NASA — Learn and discuss eclipses at the NASA Solar System Ambassador activity station!

When: Friday, August 18, 6 — 8 p.m.

Cost: Public – $5 per person; Members – FREE
