The Museum of Science & History’s signature early childhood program provides BIG learning for our youngest guests! Geared for children ages 3, 4 and 5, Little Learners allows you and your child to explore STEM-based ideas and create memories in a safe environment.

By participating in Little Learners programs, students gain:

  • STEM Conceptual Understanding including awareness, knowledge, understanding, or use of STEM concepts, facts, phenomena, theory, explanations, and models
  • Skills including use of techniques, tools, development and implementation of investigations
  • Practices related to STEM as a way of knowing (e.g. manipulate, test, explore, predict, question, observe, and make sense of the natural and physical world)
  • Engagement in STEM activities, learning practices, tools and language, topics, concepts, phenomena, theories, or careers
  • Interest, Excitement, & Motivation to learn about STEM topics, phenomena, & concepts
  • Identity & Dispositions as Learners who know about, use, and contribute to science
  • Workforce Readiness for 21st-Century and STEM-related jobs

Little Learners Classes

Each lesson is offered on Saturdays at 9:30 AM Lessons are one hour long and build upon ideas learned in the previous class over the course of several weeks.

Registration is $25 and includes program admission for one child and one adult, as well as admission to the Museum following the program.

In order to secure spots for a particular program, payment must be made before the day of the class. Once a program is sold out, no further tickets will be available for purchase online or in person.

Additional Person (Child or Guardian): $14
Class Size: 10

All registration must take place online at least 24 hours before the start of class. No walk-ins will be accepted.

Child must be at least three years old to participate in this program.

Participants arriving more than 20 minutes late will not be admitted into the program.

All sales are final – refunds or credits will not be given to late or no-show groups or children who are registered and under the three year-old age requirement.

Exploring the Four Seasons

What are the seasons of Earth, and what causes them? Why do some seasons feel colder or warmer than others? In this program series, you will investigate the changing seasons through hands-on experiments, build an understanding of how air can move and shape our weather and climate, and gain deeper knowledge of how the seasons influence all aspects of the Earth’s natural world.

Rolling Robots

In this program series, you will learn how robots can move on their own or by communicating with people through commands, and you will explore these methods of motion by testing out various types of robots.

Our Super Senses

You will come to your senses in this multidisciplinary program that teaches the biology of the five senses through hands-on science experiments and lessons. You will put your senses to work in order to make observations and discoveries about the world around you.

Magical Mixtures

Do you love mixing substances together to see what happens? In this program series, you will get to experiment with all sorts of mixtures, concoctions, and potions in the classroom and our JEA Science Theater. You will gain important knowledge about solids, liquids, gases, and the stuff in between.
