Author Talk: June Hersh – Food, Hope, & Resilience: Authentic Recipes and Remarkable Stories from Holocaust Survivors

Nov 07 at 7:00 pm8:30 pm

Program Information

Join MOSH and the Jewish Community Alliance for a unique presentation and discussion from author June Hersh on her 2023 book Food, Hope, & Resilience: Authentic Recipes and Remarkable Stories from Holocaust Survivors. With the generous support of our partners at Jewish Community Alliance and the Jewish Cultural Arts Festival, we are able to present this unique event! The author will discuss her motivation and the process of creating this incredible work, and attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions, discuss book content, and have their copies signed by June Hersh, all while seated in the comfort and wonder of the MOSH Bryan-Gooding Planetarium. Books will be available for purchase at the event. Ticket includes food (light appetizers) and a drink ticket.

In addition to time with the author, guests will have opportunity to experience the MOSH exhibition Lives Eliminated, Dreams Illuminated, which presents the stories of young women who lost their lives in the Holocaust. Artist Lauren Bergman has created portraits of these women (based upon archival photographs), reimagining the lives they could have had. Each woman’s story is accompanied by original music composed by Ella Milch-Sheriff. The exhibition is presented by the Dr. David M. Milch Foundation and is sponsored locally, in part, by the Together Strong Community Fund.
