Proceeds from inaugural gala, presented by Dream Finders Homes, will support the MOSH Genesis capital campaign
Apr. 12, 2022 — JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Tickets are now available for the Museum of Science & History’s inaugural GALAXY fundraiser, presented by Dream Finders Homes, on Saturday, April 30, 2022.
Attendees will enjoy live entertainment by DJ Jacob Towe, interactive experiences throughout the Museum and out-of-this-world culinary creations from The Chef’s Garden and handcrafted cosmic cocktails by Oliv’r Twist. Proceeds from the black-tie gala will support the MOSH Genesis capital campaign to build a new Museum on the Northbank of Downtown Jacksonville.
MOSH has operated in its current location on the Southbank of Downtown Jacksonville since 1969. The Museum’s operations have outgrown the 77,000-square-foot facility; building a new Museum will significantly expand the organization’s capacity to serve more students and visitors.
A preliminary project analysis by ConsultEcon estimates that the new Museum will increase annual attendance from 175,000 (2017-2019 average) to 469,000, a 168% increase; triple tourism attendance; increase the Museum’s operating budget to $8 million, nearly tripling its pre-pandemic budget; and create 78 new jobs, contributing $2.3 million in new salaries and wages to the local economy.
“The GALAXY fundraiser will help us create a new cornerstone for our community’s cultural, historical, educational and economic vitality,” said Bruce Fafard, President and CEO of MOSH. “With the support of North Florida’s business, civic, philanthropic and cultural leaders, we look forward to hosting a celebration indicative of MOSH’s future.”
Sponsorship packages include tickets to the event, as well as signage and recognition opportunities. Individuals and organizations interested in sponsoring the gala are encouraged to contact GALAXY co-chairs Katie Borghese and Kate Weidlich at MOSHGenesis@themosh.org.
GALAXY will begin at 7:30 p.m. at MOSH, located at 1025 Museum Circle. Individual tickets start at $250 for general admission. A limited number of VIP tickets are also available, and include early admission at 6 p.m.
