MOSH offers party packages that are sure to deliver a memorable party adventure. Party times are available on Saturdays at 11 AM and 2 PM, and Sundays at 1 PM and 2 PM All party packages include free admission, 2-hour use of a private party room, a MOSH staff member to greet and direct your guests to the room, and a special surprise from The MOSH Store for the birthday celebrant!

Please note: Parties must be scheduled at least two weeks prior to your desired date. All dates and times are booked on a first come, first serve basis and are subject to availability.

The basic birthday party package includes:

  • 2-hour use of a private birthday party room – Feel free to bring your own decorations. Visit our Pinterest page for ideas for science & history-themed decorations!
  • General admission for all party guests to MOSH
  • A birthday party assistant to greet and direct guests to the room
  • A special birthday surprise from The MOSH Store for the birthday child

Full payment is due the day of the party.

The basic birthday party package with planetarium includes:

  • 2-hour use of a private birthday party room – Feel free to bring your own decorations.
  • General admission for all party guests to MOSH
  • A birthday party assistant to greet and direct guests to the room
  • A special birthday surprise from The MOSH Store for the birthday child
  • One pre-selected program in the Bryan-Gooding Planetarium

Full payment is due the day of the party.

The themed party package includes everything in the basic party package, PLUS:

  • Theme of your choice (options below)
  • Table decorations to match your theme
  • A party assistant who will greet and direct your guests to your room
  • Your choice of an Animal Encounter show led by a MOSH Naturalist or an Extreme Science show led by a MOSH Educator
  • Mini-Melts ice cream
  • A custom decorated sheet cake (flavor choices: chocolate, vanilla or marble)

Choose one of the following themes for your birthday party.

Bring to life the many mysteries of the scientific world! Party guests will become mad scientists as they participate in electrifying experiments with a MOSH Educator in the JEA Science Theater. Celebrate another year of discovery with exploratory grab bags, Mini-Melts ice cream and a Mad Science birthday cake!

Be the sea life of the party as you and your guests venture across the Atlantic! Learn about the powerful forces of wild weather during an Extreme Science show, or meet member’s of MOSH’s Living Collection with a guided introduction led by a MOSH Naturalist. Make a splash with sunken treasure grab bags, Mini Melts ice cream and an under the sea birthday cake!

Unearth a period in time when dinosaurs roamed our planet! Meet reptiles as ancient as these prehistoric beasts in a private Animal Encounter, or take a trip to the JEA Science Theater where party guests will discover the science behind volcanic eruptions and learn what the world was like during the age of the dinosaurs. Dig up your own Jurassic grab bags, Mini Melts ice cream and a dino dynamite birthday cake!

Take a seat in the Bryan-Gooding Planetarium, get lost in space, and enjoy a journey through our solar system! Blast off with your own grab bag, mini melts ice cream, and a space-themed birthday cake.

Guests are always welcome to tour the party rooms before booking a party! We offer site visits by appointment only. Please email events@themosh.org to set up an appointment.

No, any guest that is entering the Museum must be included in your guest count, including the birthday child.

Everyone over the age of 2 years, adults included, will be considered a paid participant. Wristbands will be provided to all guests in your group and they must be worn for the duration of the party.

Yes, they will be included in the total party guest count. Museum Memberships do not apply toward private special events such as birthday parties. If you are a current MOSH Member (Molecule Level or higher), you will receive a 20% discount off the party package as a benefit of your membership.

Yes, the maximum is 35 guests. The maximum guest count includes all guests over 2 years old and is enforced for the safety of all guests. You are welcome to host a party for less than 10 people but you will be charged for the minimum party package of 10 guests.

A $50 non-refundable deposit is required to secure your party reservation date and time. This deposit will be applied towards the final party cost and may be processed in person or over the phone.

All deposits are non-refundable, however, you may call to request a date change. All requests will be subject to availability and it is recommended to call at least two weeks prior to the original date.

Payments for birthdays must be finalized no later than a day before the event.

Please tell your guests to sign-in at the kiosk in the lobby for check-in. A MOSH staff member will greet your guests, provide them with a wristband, and escort them to the party room.

Requests to change the size of a birthday party package will be subject to availability and is not a guarantee. We require at least a two week notice for any change, as select rooms and add-ons may not be available. If you have more than the expected number of party guests, a fee of $12 per person will apply for the Exhibition Party Package. The additional guest cost for the Planetarium Package or Themed Package is $15 per person.

If such fees should incur, they will need to be paid the day of the party.

Yes, your guests will not be required to purchase admission to the Museum to attend your party. Furthermore, your guests are welcome to stay beyond the party’s end time until regular closing hours to enjoy the Museum’s exhibits and daily programs.

Yes, outside food and beverages (non-alcoholic only) are permitted for birthday celebrations. All food/beverage must remain inside the party room.

Party decorations are available as a package add-on and include the following: balloons, table covers, plates, napkins, forks, juice boxes, party hats, and grab bags.

Various colors and/or themes are available upon request.

Yes, non-permanent decorations such as banners and streamers are permitted inside the party rooms.

All Museum party rooms and exhibits are wheelchair accessible. Wheelchairs are available for complimentary rental on a first come, first serve basis from Guest Relations at the Front Desk. If you have any other accommodation needs or inquiries, please contact the Public Program & Special Events Manager (lmatthews@themosh.org).

Private party rooms are located on the 1st Floor of the Museum in the MOSH Classrooms. MOSH has two free parking lots adjacent to the Museum. There is additional parking on the west side of the Museum in the lot located under the Acosta Bridge. If you are bringing your own party supplies, you are granted access to the loading dock entrance at the back of Museum. We ask that you inform the Special Events Coordinator of your estimated arrival time to access the loading dock entrance.

Storage is not available in the birthday party room before or after your party. MOSH staff is not responsible for monitoring your personal items in the party room.

Your party will have 15 minutes after the party ends to clean up and exit the party room. We provide a trash can with a trash bag in each party room. You will be responsible for picking up after your guests and we will handle the rest.

We are able to extend your party times for an additional fee, however a time extension request must be made at least 2 weeks prior to the party date. We are unable to extend party times on the day of the party due to staff, programming, and rental schedules.

The goodie bags include items that are appropriate for children 3 years and older.

You may purchase a decorations add-on up to a week before the party. To purchase a private Animal Encounter or Extreme! Science Show add-on, we require at least two weeks advance notice to ensure availability.
